چکیده
The quantity and quality of remote sensing measurements tectonic deformation have increased dramatically over the past two decades, improving our ability to observe active geomorphological processes. High-precision high-resolution topography is basis for quantitative study Recently, with rapid development computer visual science growing application light detection ranging (LiDAR), small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) structure from motion (SfM) photogrammetry shown great potential in providing high-precision topographic information. In this Special Issue, we focus on activity faults geomorphic processes various global regimes that are related measurements. This Issue covers major earthquake hazards seismogenic structures, new methods seismological studies using data sets, sets worldwide and, particular, Eastern Tibetan Plateau Tian Shan. These contributions will provide insights into perspectives

Remote sensing application in geomorphology
India has made tremendous progress in the aerospace technology in the last two decades. We are one, among the worlds best in satellite and the remote sensing technology. We are also one of the developing countries facing the natural disasters and trying level best to mitigate their ill effects. At the best we can minimize their effect. To achieve this, we need to have a comprehensive management...
متن کاملMapping erodibility in dust source regions based on geomorphology, meteorology, and remote sensing
Mineral dust in the atmosphere has implications for Earth’s radiation budget, biogeochemical cycles, hydrological cycles, human health, and visibility. Currently, the simulated vertical mass flux of dust differs greatly among the existing dust models. While most of the models utilize an erodibility factor to characterize dust sources, this factor is assumed to be static, without sufficient char...
متن کاملRemote Sensing of Geomorphology and Facies Patterns on a Modern Carbonate Ramp (arabian Gulf, Dubai, U.a.e.)
The occurrence of power law relationships in the spatial distribution of sedimentary lithotopes has been identified in both modern and ancient carbonate depositional bodies. In this study, facies patterns and their spatial relationships are investigated quantitatively in an Arabian Gulf shallow subtidal carbonate ramp setting, using a synergy of IKONOS satellite imagery and vessel-based acousti...
متن کاملSpectrodirectional remote sensing: From pixels to processes
This paper discusses the historical evolution of imaging spectroscopy in Earth observation as well as directional (or multiangular) research leading to current achievements in spectrodirectional remote sensing. It elaborates on the evolution from two separate research areas into a common approach to quantify the interaction of light with the Earth surface. The contribution of spectrodirectional...
متن کاملRemote sensing and earthquake damage detection: experiences, limits and perspectives
In this paper a survey of the techniques and data sets used to evaluate earthquake damages using remote sensing tools is proposed. Starting from some preliminary definitions about earthquake damages, their evaluation scale and the difference between identification of damage “extent” and identification of damage “level”, the advantages and limits of different remote sensing data sets are present...
